We are working in conjunction with the Kemal Saracoglu Foundation in order to refurbish and help equip the proposed expanded childrens cancer ward at Lefkosa State Hospial.

We have been in discussion with the team who administer the Thalassaemia Clinic and building situated in the grounds of Lefkosa Hospital. This blood disorder requires sufferers to attend from birth for regular blood transfusions. Whilst the number of new births affected is being reduced due to screening during pregnancy, a number of children and teenage sufferers need to attend the clinic regularly, a clinic that is very adult in its set up and feel

In order to improve the environment for the youngsters and their families, we have agreed to refurbish a large room as a rest and respite centre where they can relax whilst the affected youngster receives his/her transfusion. In some cases overnight stays are required so we will be refurbishing a bedroom as a dedicated childrens/teenagers room

The Committee of CINF would like to extend a real heart felt thank you to Doug and Ellie Cope for their organisation and operation of the CINF stall at the Saturday Chateau Lambousa market over the last 3 years. Due to a change in personel circumstances, Doug, Ellie and their team of volunteers are no longer able to operate this highly successful stall – however they will be operating a CINF presence at the Pine Bay Boot sale on an ad hoc basis, check availability with Ellie on 0542 882 4100.

CINF are proud to announce that we will be working with the Kemal Saracoglu Foundation for children with cancer and leukemia on joint projects. CINF donated 6,000tl worth of specialist post chemo blood analysis equipment in October 2011, and will be working with them to improve and expand the childrens Cancer Ward Facilities at Lefkosa State Hospital.

CINF would like to welcome Richard Halford who joined the committee this summer. Richard has already made an impact on our fundraising capabilities during the promotion of the James Swanson/Francis Wedin row from Turkey to the TRNC, together with the sale of our CINF wrist bands. Richard’s youth and enthusiasism will assist the committee in reaching out to the younger ex pat and TC audience. In addition Richard and his business partner Leo have kindly offered to assist in the regular updating of the CINF website.

We have provided 45 pairs of trainer/shoes to children who had no winter shoes at a State School in Lefkosa.

CINF presented two specialist blood anaylasis and treatment machines to The Kemal Foundation. These machines (value 6,000 tl) assist in post chemo therapy recovery for children and will be sited in the Children’s Cancer Ward in Lefkosa State Hospital.

We arranged for young Halil Horza to visit Istanbul for the provision of a prosthetic eye and ongoing treatment to improve sight in his remaining eye

CiNF completed the refurbishment and equiping of a dedicated childrens/family bedroom and rest and respite faciliies at the Thasalaema Clinic situated within the grounds of Lefkosa Hospital.

A mobile incubation and resuscitation unit was provided for Lefke Hospital to assist with premature babies.
