We are working in conjunction with the Kemal Saracoglu Foundation in order to refurbish and help equip the proposed expanded childrens cancer ward at Lefkosa State Hospial.
We have been in discussion with the team who administer the Thalassaemia Clinic and building situated in the grounds of Lefkosa Hospital. This blood disorder requires sufferers to attend from birth for regular blood transfusions. Whilst the number of new births affected is being reduced due to screening during pregnancy, a number of children and teenage sufferers need to attend the clinic regularly, a clinic that is very adult in its set up and feel
In order to improve the environment for the youngsters and their families, we have agreed to refurbish a large room as a rest and respite centre where they can relax whilst the affected youngster receives his/her transfusion. In some cases overnight stays are required so we will be refurbishing a bedroom as a dedicated childrens/teenagers room
Other forms of assistence are being discussed
